Clarification on recently reported confiscation of Californium at Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh
There was a newspaper report on 28th May, 2021 about confiscation of an unidentified material, weighing about 340gm, suspected to be Californium; by Uttar Pradesh Police at Lucknow. After inspection of the material and relevant laboratory analyses of the samples collected from the material, the Department of Atomic Energy clarifies that the material is not Californium. Also, it is confirmed that the material is of natural origin and it is not radioactive.
