Nuclear Controls and Planning Wing (NCPW)
Nuclear Controls and Planning Wing (NCPW) was established in the Department of Atomic Energy Secretariat in the year 2013 by office order No. 23/1/2011-ER/1127 dated 01/05/2013 to meet the statutory requirements emanating from the projected expansion of India’s civil nuclear programme, increasing external engagements and evolution of techno-legal framework in national & international arena. Some of the important mandates of NCPW are, coordination and implementation of IAEA Safeguards for civilian nuclear facilities, export control authorisations ( import / export of prescribed substances / equipment and related technology), facilitate international engagements concerning peaceful uses of nuclear energy, handling techno-legal issues and related policy formulation, handling techno-managerial aspects of global mega science projects, Intellectual Property Rights, study of country’s nuclear energy roadmap, Department’s scientific / technical projects appraisal etc. These are accomplished through various divisions under NCPW. Apart from these activities, NCPW is also engaged in nuclear / radiological crisis management, IT support to DAE secretariat etc.
NCPW Structure
