    MoU with the Department of Natural Resources of Canada concerning cooperation in the fields of science, technology and innovation

    During the visit of Prime Minister of Canada, H.E. Mr. Justin Trudeau to India, Department of Atomic Energy signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Department of Natural Resources of Canada concerning cooperation in the fields of science, technology and innovation. Dr. Sekhar Basu, Secretary DAE and Chairman, AEC signed the MoU on behalf of Government of India. This MoU was exchanged in presence of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi and the Canadian Prime Minister. Secretary, DAE also participated in the delegation level talks between the two countries.

    The MoU is a broad framework arrangement for enhancing cooperation in research and development activities with Canada. The MoU facilitates mutual consultations on the areas of new material development and testing, design of advanced PHWRs, structural components of reactor systems including inspection and quality assurance programs, sharing of operational information, non-power application of radiation isotope technology etc. This will be facilitated through joint research projects, exchange of scientists and technical experts and organising meetings, conference and workshops. The MoU will be valid for a period of 5 years and can be renewed further through mutual consultations.
