Inter Governmental Agreement between India and Ghana


On the sidelines of the 65th General Conference of IAEA held in Vienna, Austria during September 20-24, 2021, an Inter Governmental Agreement (IGA) between The Government of the Republic of India and the Government of The Republic of Ghana on cooperation in the peaceful uses of nuclear energy was signed on 22.09.2021. Dr. K.N. Vyas, Secretary, DAE and Chairman, AEC signed the agreement on behalf of Government of India.


The IGA envisages cooperation in transfer and exchange of knowledge, expertise and technology, sharing of resources and experiences, training of personnel and capacity building in various aspects of peaceful uses of nuclear energy, including assistance in nuclear projects. The IGA shall remain in force upon notification through diplomatic channels by the last party, for a period of 20 years unless otherwise terminated by either party giving six months notice.
