MoU between GCNEP and AFCONE


On the sidelines of the 64th General Conference, a bilateral virtual meeting was held with AFCONE on 21.09.2020. During the said meeting a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Global Centre for Nuclear Energy Partnership(GCNEP) and African Commission on Nuclear Energy(AFCONE), was signed. On the Indian side the MoU has been signed by Secretary, DAE and Chairman AEC; on the AFCONE side by Mr. Messaoud Baaliouamer, Executive Secretary, AFCONE.


AFCONE is a body under Treaty of Pelindaba, 1996 and have 42 members of African Union. South Africa is the AFCONE Head Quarters.


The MoU focuses on capacity building though organizing training, seminars, workshops and lectures by research experts from both sides on topical issues to develop a pool of trained human resource in the areas of peaceful uses of nuclear energy.
